Today we’re going to journey into Sweetwater, TN for a visit to Bradley’s Pit Bar-B-Q. After a visit to the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum in Vonore, TN we began looking for somewhere to eat. And for anyone interested in learning more about who Sequoyah was here’s the link to the museum, www.sequoyahmuseum.com .
We searched the area. The one bbq restaurant in that area was closed the day we went so we kept searching and came up with Bradley’s. They were about 20 minutes away so we decided to give them a shot. It was a nice ride there on Hwy. 411 to Hwy. 68. At least I think that’s how we went. GPS actually led me there. So here’s how it went in Tennessee.
The Restaurant and Staff:
Bradley’s Pit Bar-B-Q is a good sized restaurant. They have plenty of seating. I’m thinking we arrived right after a rush. There were several tables that needed cleaning. Once things settled down the tables were cleared, wiped down and the floor swept under and around them. Nice job ladies. Our waitress, Beth was a blast. She had a great personality and was really fun to have as a waitress. She knew the menu and helped us out with our choices. Beth also kept good tabs on us to be sure everything was good. Well let’s get to the food.
Our Choices at Bradley’s Pit Bar-B-Q:
Tammy ordered a 2 Meat Platter with Pulled Pork and Chopped Brisket. Her sides were Mac & Cheese and Slaw. The slaw was really good. It had a mayo base with a touch of sweet to it. The mac & cheese had a good flavor but the macaroni was a little over cooked making it a little too soft. Surprisingly Tammy really liked the chopped brisket. For her it has to be sliced. But this did pass her taste test. It did have a good smoke flavor and the seasoning was right there also. The pork was even better. It had a good smoke flavor and some bark mixed in. Nice job on the Q.
I ordered a 3 Meat Platter today. It had Pulled Pork, Ribs and Sausage. My sides were Baked Beans and Potato Salad. Both
were homemade. The beans were wonderful. They had a tasty thick broth with meat and onions cooked in with them too. The potato salad was outstanding. They used red skin potatoes and a mayo base but not too much. Bradley’s Pit Bar-B-Q did a great job on the potato salad. I already talked about the pork so let’s move on to the sausage. It was very good. Not spicy and not like a summer sausage, somewhere in between. I would have liked a mustard sauce for it though. The ribs were good. They did have a little too much sauce for me. So just not my favorite of the day.
Final Thoughts:
Bradley’s Pit Bar-B-Q was a good stop today. Both 0f us enjoyed our food and chatting with Beth. Our service and food were good and the people we talked to were friendly. Just a real nice spot for some really good Q. We also got some chocolate cake and carrot cake to go. We had to eat them the next day for breakfast. Ok so maybe you shouldn’t let your kids read that part. The chocolate cake was awesome with chocolate frosting, it was chocolate heaven. The carrot cake was delicious as well. Everyone there was very friendly and the food was good. I’d say if you get out that way give them a try.
