Taking a Jeep Ride out on Route 10 through Chesterfield, VA turned out even better than expected. We stumbled across Brocks Bar-B-Que on Iron Bridge Rd. We went on pass it but kept it in mind for later. Finally on our way back we stopped for dinner.
Oh it was worth the wait. Starting with my order, I had a 2 meat combo with minced pork and brisket. Now I’ll admit that minced is not my favorite but this was really good. It had a nice smoke flavor with their own dry rub seasoning. I also tried it with their homemade sauce which was really good also, especially the hot one. It wasn’t too hot. I had mine with coleslaw and baked beans. Both were really good.
Now the brisket…that was “slap your mama” good. It had some of the best flavor of any that I’ve had in a while. The smoke and seasoning were awesome. I’d go back just for that.
My wife also had brisket with mac & cheese and green beans. Her sides were worthy of the meal also.
Don’t forget the hushpuppies. I didn’t even try the rolls opting just for the pups. They were great.
If you’re traveling on Route 10 you need to go there. If you’re on I-95 or I-295 you should google it and give them a try. It’s a family owned and operated business. They have a nice clean dining room and friendly employees. Our waitress was awesome, very nice and also very helpful. She didn’t mind telling you if she didn’t care for something on the menu but would recommend the items that she thought were the best. What a breath of fresh air she was. Thank you.
We also had desert after our meal. I’m not sure how it fit but we did it. My wife had a chocolate pie (homemade) and I had cherry cobbler (homemade) with ice cream. Her pie was very good. My cobbler was good but not the best I ever had. I may have just been too full already to enjoy it.
None the less you should give them a try. I think you’ll be glad you did. I’m going back for more brisket and to try the ribs someday soon. Can’t wait.
