Curtis’ All American BBQ in Putney, VT is just awesome. We found him on the internet and planned a visit to his place while vacationing in Vermont. Yes, there is yet another bbq establishment in Vermont well worth planning a trip to. Just be sure to check the hours before going.

Well here’s what we found at Curtis’. There are no frills here, not even a restaurant. It is great! You park then go up to an old blue school bus to place your order. While waiting for your order you can watch Curtis cooking on his open pit. He seemed to love talking to the people and treated us like he had known us for years. What an awesome man. Even though we met many nice people while in VT, Curtis has to rate close to the top, they just don’t make them any better than him.

Anyways, once you pick up your order you take it to the outside picnic tables. I think he had an area under a shelter also in case of rain. Tammy had a pulled chicken sandwich and I got the ribs. She had chips and I had baked beans and mashed potatoes. Everything was awesome. And oh what a mess, I loved it. Also out by the picnic tables was a sink in the open so you can wash up at any point during your adventure. The sauce has a little heat to it but very good. There is a sweet sauce available but you have to ask for it.

I guess to sum this one up it just reminded me of some type of a family reunion or gathering where your granddad or your favorite uncle cooks all the meat on his monster open pit that he’s been using for years. I just don’t see any way for Curtis to make this any better.

Anyone anywhere near Putney, VT needs to pay this place a visit. I don’t think you can leave there unhappy unless maybe if you’re a clean freak. That could be a problem, you will get messy…and that’s a good thang.
