Well today we made it to Pensacola, FL and went to Hot Spot Barbecue for supper. We were staying at a house with family and they had gone to rehearsal dinner. We checked out the web to find a bbq restaurant close by. And this one was only about a mile away with good reviews so we decided to find out for ourselves.
Where is Hot Spot Barbecue Located?
Hot Spot Barbecue is located on East La Rue St. in Pensacola, FL. So the best I can tell you here is they are not far off of I-110 coming into downtown Pensacola. They are also close to the bridge that takes you to the beaches. If you are visiting Pensacola you should just google them and find out how close you are.
The Restaurant and Staff:
Hot Spot Barbecue has a nice dining room with a couple of rooms inside and they also have tables outside with umbrellas for shade in the daytime. Everyone we met was very nice and friendly. Our waitress, Krysta, was wonderful. She helped us all along the way and kept tabs to be sure we were pleased with our meals. She was just a really good waitress and didn’t keep us waiting for anything we needed. We also talked to the owners before leaving. They were really nice as well.
Our Choices at Hot Spot Barbecue:
I chose a Triple Combo Plate with Pork, Sausage, and Ribs. My sides were Brunswick Stew and Baked Beans. I’ll start with my least favorite, the sausage. It was a good “summer” sausage but just not what I was looking for. Note that this does not mean it was bad, I just had a lot of other choices on my plate. The Pork was pulled. It had a very good smoke flavor, nice smokering, and also had some bark mixed in. And there was no sauce on it, just how I like it served. The ribs had a really good flavor too. They were served with a light sauce and all the flavors blended well. These were some good ribs. As for the sides my baked
Tammy went with the Sliced Brisket Plate. Her sides were Mac & Cheese and Corn on the Cob. Her brisket was really good. It had a nice smokering, good smoke flavor and a good layer of bark on it. The brisket was served with a light sweet bbq sauce and was nice and moist. The mac & cheese was very good. It had plenty of cheese and just very flavorful. The corn was good. Nothing was done to make it extra special. You like corn on the cob then it’s a good side.
