We actually found Jeb’s Diner and Market a couple of years ago. With us staying on the go so much searching for new bbq we just overlooked them for the blog. Well it’s about time to correct that and get them out there. After all they are another local stop, at least for some of us, so we shall continue the streak.
Where is Jeb’s Diner and Market Located?
Jeb’s Diner and Market is located on Route 17 in Carrollton, VA. They are right on the highway in a bright red building and hard to miss. If you’re coming from the Suffolk / Churchland area you’ll need to go through Chuckatuck. After crossing the bridge leaving Chuckatuck, Jeb’s will be about a mile on your left. If coming from Newport News across the James River Bridge you’ll need to go through the 258/32 Interchange and then go about another 2 miles. Jeb’s will be on your right. If you cross the bridge into Chuckatuck you went too far.
The Restaurant and Staff:
We picked a great time to go back. The dining room at Jeb’s Diner and Market has just been remodeled. They have beautiful new flooring, tables and chairs, and a fresh new feel to the place. This is a family run business and the only time we ever met Jeb was when we went to the market side to look at their meat selection. I have to mention that the meats look awesome. “Momma” never came out of the kitchen until this time. We didn’t meet her but she visited with a couple of locals she knew. Now Lisa is the gem of the dining room. This young lady is a very hard worker and a wonderful person. As busy as they were when we visited she still managed time with each of her customers. She never slowed down and never missed anything waiting on all the tables. Lisa was like that when we first met her a couple of years ago and she’s still going. Something like that bunny that keeps on going. I’ll bet she sleeps well at night.
Our Choices at Jeb’s Diner and Market:
Now we get to our food choices. Today Tammy went with the Double Delight Dinner. Her dinner included Sliced Brisket and Pulled Pork along with two sides of her choice. She went with Broccoli Salad and Fries. The fries are not home cut but are cooked in their lard and come out very good. Her broccoli salad was really good as well. Of course you have to like that kind of stuff and to me it’s just ok. Tammy loved it. The brisket was really good. It had a very nice smoke ring and flavor. It is served with their homemade sweet bbq sauce on it. I’d like to try it without sauce. The pulled pork was great also. It too had the smoke ring and some bark mixed in. Very nice touch. The pork comes lightly sauced with their homemade vinegar sauce. Both were sauced enough to blend in and not to overpower the meats.
This trip I went with the Triple Delight Dinner. Mine was Pulled Pork, Baby Back Ribs and Smoked
Sausage with Baked Beans and Fries. So I already covered the pork and the fries. Let me tell you about the beans. They were killer. They are cooked in a nice thick sauce that was wonderful. The sausage was my least favorite. It was good but I like sausage that has been charred some and a little crispy on the outside. All in all the sausage still had a really good
taste, I just would like it cooked differently. The baby back ribs were very good and tender. I even liked the sauce that was on them. Again it was their sweet bbq sauce. Good job on the ribs.
Sauces:
Jeb’s Diner and Market has five different homemade sauces at the table. I’m sorry to say that I didn’t try any other than what was served on my meat choices. That included the Vinegar sauce and their Original Tomato Based. I didn’t think it would be good to mix them on the meats so I just passed on the others.
Desserts:
You cannot beat the desserts at Jeb’s Diner and Market. Homemade is their keyword and you can taste the difference. Tammy had a piece of Three Layer Chocolate Cake with Buttercream Icing. It was wonderful. I had to help her finish hers. Yes I know, it’s tough but somebody has to do it. I made the sacrifice. I chose their Italian Cream Cake. Three layers of coconut pecan cake with pecan cream cheese frosting. All I can say is awesome. Jeb’s has some of the best desserts around.
Final Thoughts:
I actually was reluctant to go to Jeb’s Diner and Market. It had been a couple of years since we visited them and I didn’t know how we would like them compared with the others that we’ve been to. Well I can say now that I was foolish to feel that way. The food here is great and so is the service. Nothing flashy or fancy, but some wonderful food. We watched other orders come out and everything looked great. Just a note on the other choices, I have to go back for the chili burger that I saw. They also offer some Korean dishes as well if you’d like to try them. I have no doubt that you’ll love them.
Now For Your Thoughts:
Here’s where I solicit your thoughts. I’d love to pick your brains to see how you feel about Jeb’s Diner and Market but I can’t. So I ask, have you been to Jeb’s? How did your visit go? I know that they have regulars because the place was hopping when we went. Tell us what you love the most.
Leave your comments and I’ll get them posted as soon as possible. You can give more to this story than I can with one visit. Help spread the word.
I look forward to hearing from you.
I always encourage you to share this review on Facebook and other social media sites. Follow us on Facebook to see where else we go.

Nice to know about Jebs Dinner. I also would like to recommend Too Thai Street Eats in Carrollton. They offer delicious thai foods. You can taste foods like pad Kee mow,Krapow Gai and gather a memorable experience.
Thanks for the information. I’m sure there are others besides myself that don’t realize that many restaurants are in Carrollton.
Diner has been closed since at least 2018. Meat shop is open.
Sorry to hear that. They were such nice people there as well. I do appreciate you letting us know. I’m also sorry it has taken me this long to get back to you.
Thanks again for the info.
