Two Drummers Smokehouse, I believe is a diamond located in Toano, VA. Many people probably don’t even know where that is. But if you’re visiting Williamsburg or just traveling I-64 in that area it’s well worth the visit for some great bbq. Here’s how I feel about their restaurant.

From the moment you walk in you feel welcome. One or more people will greet you at the door. At least they have always done that with us. You have a choice of inside or outside seating. We have never eaten outside. The dining room is clean and the staff is friendly. I don’t think that we’ve ever had a bad waitress, some were better than others but none were bad.

As for the food…It’s awesome. I’ll just go off of our last visit.

I ordered the senior platter. This comes with choice of three meats and two sides. I chose the pulled pork, sliced brisket, and smoked sausage. My sides were baked beans and coleslaw.

Starting with the smoked sausage, I couldn’t believe how good it was. Some of the edges had the crusty, “burnt” flavor to them. I loved it. Just like if you cooked it on a smoker at home and some flames got to it.

Next was the brisket. It was awesome. Great smoke flavor and very moist and tender. I ate it without any of their sauces this time. They do have some good sauces too.

Lastly was the pulled pork. It rated right up there with the rest of my meal. Very good smoke flavor, nice smoke ring and just delicious with or without sauce. Again I had mine without any sauce this visit.

Tammy had the pulled pork and brisket also, hers was the Junior Combo.

The sides were excellent also. Between the two of us we had mac & cheese, slaw, and baked beans. We both had slaw.

For the final touch or blow depending on how you view it, we shared a piece of chocolate cake that was out of this world. We were extremely full and drove to Williamsburg to walk around the Yankee Candle Outlet for a while.

Great place to try. I know that many in Williamsburg believe there is only one place for bbq but you really need to give this place a try with an open mind. We’ll get to that other place another day.
